Goals, Objectives & Purpose
The South Milwaukee Yacht Club was founded was founded on the principle that its members, both collectively and individually, contribute positively to the community through their participation in the Club - a principle that continues to guide us today. Our goals, objectives and purpose are to:
• Encourage education, appreciation, and proficiency in the marina arts and science of safe power and sail boating, naval architecture, navigation, piloting, and related subjects and activities as they specifically apply to the Great Lakes, among our adult and junior members.
• Promote intelligent use and wise government of our perishable natural resources of clean air and pure water, especially as they affect Lake Michigan the Great Lakes.
• Foster the personal enjoyment and relaxation that is realized by being on or near the water as a means of retreating from the complexities of every day modern society.
• Provide security and assistance to all persons in time of need through the presence of our small boat harbor and through individual vigilance from shore and while on the water, as is correct custom and in the best tradition of the sea.
• Cultivate friendships through the association of persons sharing mutual marine interests.
• Unite all the foregoing in an organized effort to acquire, hold, and own real and personal property as may be necessary to actively pursue business toward the attainment of our goals, objectives, and purpose.
